In this twentieth century, mobile phone has plays its role as a medium of communication to human being. This mobile phone has its own pros and cons, hence the user should be aware of its consequences. Recently the research on mobile phone has shown a lot of its effects on user. The type of health hazards that can be produce by mobile phone are short term radiation, nickel dermatitis, headache, dizziness, extreme, irritation, forgetfulness, neuropsychological discomfort, decrease of the reflex, clicking sound in the ears, and increase carelessness. In this paper, we will discuss the health effect of mobile phone to the user.
From the mid- 90s, mobile phone rapidly came into widespread use. Regarding the research of Personal Handy- phone System (PHS), there were 81.52 million mobile phone users in March 2004 in Japan only or in the other words, the use of mobile phone is very common gadget in all society. Hence the use of mobile phone has no limit and border . Mobile phone is convenient, highly accessible, capable device that is well suited to communication. At the same time, the extensive use of mobile phones raises the various issues of possible health effects of the radiation electromagnetic fields emitted by this mobile phone.
Since the mobile phone is being more and more familiar and popular to the public, hence our objective here are to share the information about the effect of mobile phone to user health. We hope through this paper, user can be more aware of health effect of mobile phone.
There are two types health effects cause by the mobile phone to the user. The issues of health effects can be classified as mental and physical health effects which will cause the user feel discomfort.
Nickel dermatitis, headache, clicking sound in the ears are classified into mental health effects and dizziness, extreme irritation, forgetfulness, neuropsychological discomfort, decrease of the reflex, and increase carelessness otherwise is listed as physical health effects.
Mobile phone emitting pulsed high frequency electromagnetic fields may affect the human brain . Short- term of radio magnetic radiation from mobile phone technology is not related in idiopathic environmental intolerance with attribution to electromagnetic fields. The exposure durations were too short to produce real effects at the biochemical and clinical levels. Furthermore, the effects of electromagnetic fields may be related not only to intensity or duration of exposure but also to frequency or modulation.
Otherwise the physical effects are caused by the material that used to manufacture and design a mobile phone consists of some hazardous material to human being such as nickel. Nowadays, most of mobile phone are consists of free nickel on its metal around the screen and the keypad has cause user nickel dermatitis allergy where patches of eczematous dermatitis on patient’s face in areas that came into contact with the mobile phone.
